German HZB Research Center: a record breaking single perovskite / silicon series solar cell with an
Release time:2020-12-17

Today, science online published Marko Jo from the Helmholtz Berlin (HZB) research center in Germany š T and Steve Albrecht's team's work of single perovskite / silicon series solar cells reached 29.15% efficiency. This article broke the record of 28.2% efficiency of the coupling device between perovskite cells and silicon bottom cells mechanically stacked by Edward h. Sargent's team at the University of Toronto earlier this year (doi: 10.1038/s41467-020-15077-3).

Amran al ashouri, one of the co authors of this article, published the work of perovskite CIGS laminated solar cells with 23.26% efficiency on EES last year. By introducing two new molecules at the hole selective contact interface into the perovskite solar cells, the single junction cigse/ perovskite series solar cells were prepared because the molecules have carbazole groups with phosphonic acid anchoring groups and can form self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on various oxides, with a certification efficiency of 23.26% in an effective area of 1 cm2. ( https://doi.org/10.1039/C9EE02268F )

Eike K ö hnen, one of the same articles, also wrote a prediction last year that the simulations review that specially the FF in the experience is below the expected value and show that with improved design we could reach 29% PCE for our monolithic perovskite/silicon pond device and 31% PCE if record perovskite and silicon cell single junctions could be combined in pond solar cells. So it seems that their prediction has been successful. At the same time, they must be moving towards 31%. (DOI: 10.1039/C9SE00120D)

In this latest "science", the article basically continues the ideas of the above two articles (no wonder they share the same idea this time). By designing me-4pacz as Sam layer, the perovskite band gap is 1.68ev, the single section filling factor reaches 84%, and the series open circuit voltage is as high as 1.92v. In the air and without package, after 300 hours of continuous lighting, the corresponding battery can retain more than 95% of its initial efficiency. Me-4PACz : [4-(3,6-dimethyl-9H-carbazol-9-yl)butyl]phosphonicacid

This record breaking article can be found in the following text chart. With the efforts of scientific researchers all over the world, it seems that the theoretical value of 32.4% efficiency is not far away, and the commercialization is further.
